Owing to Public Protest over the failure of Uttarakhand police to take any action against those who indulge in hate speech during dharma Sansad at Haridwar where serial religious leaders had given a call to the genocide of Muslims in the country, various petitions had been filed by people of different quarters to Supreme Court, to take cognizance of this heat speech matter. On January 10 the Supreme Court agreed to take up the matter.
The police made a general statement that he has been arrested for giving disparaging comments against Muslim women.
FIR has been made under various provisions of IPC as Section 501-1(2) for intention to incite, insulting the modesty of women 509, 504, 506, and section 67 of IT act.
CJI NV Ramana took note of the submissions of senior advocate Kapil Sibal that despite FIR no arrest had been made so far.
In the meanwhile, Uttarakhand police had nabbed Waseem Rizvi who has been named as Jitendra Narayan Tyagi for his connection with hate speech at Dharam Sansad.
Now, police have also arrested Yati Narsinghanand Mahamandaleswar at Juna Akhara for delivering derogatory remarks against Muslim women.
